Translation Practice Report On Das Gemaine

The Das Gemeine is a novel written by Osamu Dazai,the translation type of this novel belong to the literature translation.This translation was under the theory of Eugene Nida's “Functional Equivalence”,and discuss the application of this theory on Japanese-Chinese translation by “formal equivalence” and “dynamic equivalence”,respectively.The translator also combine the literary,artistic and aesthetic which are the peculiar in literary works,and by using literal translation and free translation methods flexibly,strive to attain the three standards: “faithfulness,expressiveness,elegance5' put forward Fu Yan.In detail,by combining instance,and from the viewpoint of "words” and“sentences” to analyze the translation skill.Among them,the ‘" words” can be divided into characteristic Japanese words,emotion words and loan words.Due to the different culture between China and Japan,some of the characteristic Japanese words and loanwords can be translated by only literality,and then explain the translation metihod by additional notes.At the same time,the literary works contain many emotion words,to convey the author's thoughts and feelings properly,the translation must according to the context situation.On the other side,the “sentences” can also be divided into descriptive sentences,special style sentences and conversation sentences.In this part,the author mainly analyze from the viewpoint of the artistry of the literary works.The descriptive sentences usually describe human character and scene,and it should use lively sentences,so literal translation and free translation methods should be used flexibly during translation process.Special style sentences,as letters and poems should choose the translation strategy depend on situation.At last,as the important part of this translation text,conversation sentences should be translated depend on different speaker's personality.Though this translation practice,the author realized that the literary works usually write in vivid words and have flexible style.So during translation,it is need to combine content situation,and using literal translation and free translation methods flexibly.
