Since the 1980's,the study of author Shi Zhecun has been blooming with many more wider and deeper theses published. However, these dissertations always focused on his novel writing (Mostly his early novel collection Shangyuan Deng and a series of psychoanalysis novels written in early 1930's), or his edition of Les Contemporains, a great literature synthesis magazine. Shi Zhecun's later novel writing, the edition and publishing work of other magazines, essay writing and translations were often neglected, especially for his late literature activities, the basic research and collections of materials were lacked. My thesis begins with Shi Zhecun's departure from Les Contemporains, based on the latent clue of "liberalism in literature and left wing in politics", tries to make clear his main literature activities from 1935 to 1949.After the Anti-Japan War broke out, he moved to Yunnan University and became a professor, turning from an author to a scholar. Finally, I deal with some of his unknown experiences: the edition of Dawanbao's supplements, during late 1940's.this edition of weekly and diurnal which lasted more than 9 months was an undoubtedly important part of his literature life after Anti-Japan War.The paper is divided into four chapters. In chapter One, the paper starts with the origination of Wenfan Xiaopin and the controversy between Shizhecun and the authors of Zuolian, by mentioning his so-called "liberalism in literature and Left Wing in politics", revealed his essential point about the relationship between literature and politics, which was the core of his thought. The growing, decline and interaction of the two aspects was to be a main clue through his literature life.Chapter Two concentrates on Shizhecun's late novel writing. The paper elaborates on the impossibility of establishment of the integral modernism and the plight during the course of Shizhecun's writing, then, concluded that his return to realism was a reasonable and initiative change. Combined with Shizhecun's novel Liehu Ji, Ta De Lingying, and Huangxin Dashi ,the paper discusses the question of popularization of literature, and manifests his efforts on popularization of Xinwenxue and emboding national character.Chapter Three focuses on Shizhecun's literature education and translation. The important life change of Shizhecun from author to scholar is revealed. The paper discusses "the poverty of literature", a striking point of literature education, and reveals the significance of his study of Luxun's novels by using Freud's analysistheory. Next, the paper reviews Shizhecun's literature translation from three aspects, Austrian novelist Schitzler, American and European laggard countries' literature, then, explores his reason of these choices and strategy of translation.Chapter four makes clear Shizhecun's edition of Dawanbao's supplement, namely Literature Weekly and Jianying, from December 1946 to September 1947.0n the background of a great emphasis on political consciousness in late 1940's,through the comparison with the early Literature Weekly edited with ex-editor Xujie /the setting of Jianying's columns and Shizhecun's requirement to contribution, his efforts to the progress of literature itself are manifested.
