The Contemporary European Cultural Identity And Its Construction

European integration is a comprehensive process to collect economic integration, politics integration and culture integration. At present, the academia for European integration mainly focused on economy, politics and foreign affairs, but lacking for paying attention to its cultural factors. With the development of the integration process, its cultural identities more and more obviously appeared. This dissertation just discussed the relations between the cultural identities and European it-egration. There are three chapters altogether in this dissertation:Chapter one explains relevant concepts and theories on culture identity. This dissertation thinks, culture is a common idea system hidden under the national life style. Identity is mainly the n-ational sense of ownership that members of a nationality are in it; it shows through so many kinds of cultural ways as the language, religion and system, etc. In the shape and developing of nationality, culture identity is the most crucial and most steady factor. The constructivism thinks that culture is an international doctrine and international system that admit together under country to build. It is a kind of collective knowledge, namely common idea. The behavior body not only can construct a kind of structure with the common cultural idea,but also can resolve this kind of structure too.Chapter two probes into the paradox on European culture identity. The identity of the European civilization is historical origin of European integration and realistic foundation, but European nationality cultural variety objective reality of history and reality bring heavy obstruction to European integration. Article analyses Europe national culture diversified static reason, and analyses the dynamic reason too; it analyses the external reason, and inherent reason, too. Article analyzes cultural factor deep influence on European integration also. Culture identity plays a decisive role to development and promotion of European integration.Chapter three discusses the action of culture identity. The constructivism thinks, from the point of view of idea, European Union is a result, which owns knowledge in common. Own knowledge has brought up European Union's collective identity .So, member states are not only in material structure of European Union but also in idea structure of European Union. Pieces of this the-ory, this text from inside and outside puts forward to three important tactics: about strengthening the "European idea"; about immigrating and expanding eastward; about dominant culture of U.S.A The application of these tactics has important meanings to the development of EU.In conclusion, integration absolutely does not signify the unconditional same one, but the integration of difference under certain condition. The European integration process melts with national benefit conflict, to some extent; the integration is the process that European countries seek integration on the foundation of various discrepancies.
