The Research On The Initial Consonant System Reflected From The Phonetic Loan Zhuang Characters

The ancient Zhuang characters are also called square Zhuang characters. They were created under the direct influence of Chinese characters, borrowing or using directly their strokes. It is a kind of special literature, with the equal value to the foreign phonetic materials.This dissertation bases on The Vocabulary Of The Ancient Zhuang Characters as material resource, divided the standard characters of those phonetic loan Zhuang characters into two categories, i.e., the dialectal and the standard, both of which are divided into two parts—for Chinese-loan words and for native words. And then, the author respectively establishes relative databases, by which the complex initial consonant system of the ancient Zhuang characters reflected from the phonetic loan Zhuang characters can be explained more clearly.This paper, using a comparative way, resorting to the database, and through the detailed lists, analyzes the Chinese-loan initial consonant system while the ancient Zhuang characters were being created, and gains the conclusions on the basis of the essential features of Zhuang language and Chinese.This dissertation consists of nine parts: a preface and eight chaperts. Chaper 1 concerns the features and the origin of the ancient zhuang characters; Chapter 2 discusses in what ways the ancient Zhuang characters loaned the detailed pronunciation of the Chinese characters; chapter 3 talkes about the confirmation of the phonetic loan Zhuang characters and the disposal of materials about the phonetis loan Zhuang characters; Chapter 4 is about the initial consonant system of the phonetic loan words which is reflected by the standard Zhang square characters; Chapter 5 has a look at the initial consonant system of the native words reflecred by the standard Zhang square characters; Chapter 6 is on the intial consonant system of the Chinese-loaned words; Chapter 7 talks about the initial consonant system of the native words reflected by the square characters of Zhuang dialect; and Chapter 8 is a conclusion.The samples of standard charaters database are appendixed at the end of the dissertation.
