The ancient Zhuang Characters are important ancient characters of the Zhuang nationality in Guangxi, which created by imitating Chinese characters. Most of them use Chinese characters as a phonetic part, especially pictophonetic characters. They have an inseparable relationship with ancient Chinese phonology, providing an important reference for constructing the pronunciation and revealing some phonological features in Mediaeval Chinese, which is no less useful than the extraterritorial sound material. This paper uses the Zhuang characters included in The Translation and Annotation of the Remnant Zhuang's Mojing Buluotuo's Photocopy as text materials to establish a database and then build tables based on the sixteen rhyme groups of the Middle Chinese. This papaer investigates the phonetic correspondence between the vowels of the ancient Zhuang Characters and the vowels of Middle Chinese, and explore the characteristics of Middle Ages Chinese phonology, including the separation and confluence performance of vowels. In addition, the Chinese characters belonging to nei"inner"and wai"outer"in rhyme tables are connected with Zhuang readings with short and long vowels respectively, some exceptions are explained. After the discussion, the conclusions of this article are as follows:(1)After categorizing according to the sixteen rhyme groups of the Middle Chinese,we can find the pronunciation and the separation and confluence of each rhyme in Chinese during the period of phonemic loan. For example, the pronunciation of Ge(?)rhyme in Guoshe(??)is mixed with the Ma(?)rhyme in Jiashe(??),and so does Yu(?)rhyme and Yu(?)rhyme in Yushe(??)and the rhyme Zhi(?)Zhi(?)Zhi(?)Zhi(?)in Zhishe(??).(2)The Phonemic Loan Zhuang Characters are not the product of a temporary formation.Different borrowing times will lead to different pronunciation levels. The different pronunciation levels in the sound of the ancient Zhuang characters can reflect the development of Chinese pronunciation to a certain extent, such as the rhyme Mu(?)in Yushe(??),which is pronounced more fruquently[o]and[u],[o]is borrowed earlier than[u],[u]is the result of the vowel hightening of[o].(3)Based on the separation and confluence performance of Middle Chinese vowels reflected in the Loan Zhuang Characters from the materials, such as the rhyme Zhi(?)Zhi(?)Zhi(?)Zhi(?)in Zhishe(??)are mixed and pronunced[i],and the rhyme Fei(?)and Ji(?)in Xieshe(??)are mixed with Zhishe(??),looking back at the history of Chinese phonetics,we can infer the time nodes for large-scale borrowing of the Zhuang Characters.(4)The contrast between the long and short vowels in the Loan Zhuang Characters in the materials are closely related to the"inner and outer"in the rhyme tables, such as Zhishe(??)-Xieshe(??),Liushe(??)-Xiaoshe(??),Shenshe(??)-Xianshe(??),Zhenshe(??)-Shanshe(??).Long vowels correspond to nei"inner"in the rhyme tables and short vowels correspond to wai"outer"in the rhyme tables, some exceptions are also well explained.
