A Study Of Square Zhuang Characters And Everyday Morpheme Based On The Dictionary Of Ancient Zhuang Characters

This paper analyzes the correspondences listed in the"Ancient Zhuang Character Dictionary"(《古壮字字典》)between the Zhuang characters and Zhuang morphemes, and presents a compiled list of basic vocabulary based on that dictionary and other Zhuang language materials with reference to lists of commonly used Chinese vocabulary and research into basic vocabulary. The results presented in this paper are a reliable foundational list of a set number of words which then constitute the first set to be assigned a main, primary form of a Zhuang square character. Putting forth the "primary form of a character" is an attempt to organize and standardize the variant forms of Zhuang characters. The "primary form of a character" refers to choosing one character from among all the characters which writers have used for a particular word, using the criteria of simplicity, reasonableness, and widespread use. Deciding on primary characters for every word in the language is a complex process.Proposed recommendation is the first main form reflects the words often use of words, the equivalent of the four phases of Chinese.
