A Study Of Phonology Of Baihe Chengguan Dialect

Baihe county lies in the southeast of Shaanxi,the section of east of Dabashan mountain.The north oppsites Yunxi country of Huibei and separated by Hanjiang river,boarded by the Yun county and Zhushan county of Hubei in the east and the north,link with Xunyang county of Shaanxi in the west.As the important place, it has been the southeast door of Shaanxi since ancient times. The whole area is 1450 sq.km.,population in the whole county is 210,000.There have a few research worker to investigate Baihe dialect and a few writings about it because Baihe county lies on fringe area of Shaanxi.Divided into two districts of the Chengguan dialect and Maoping dialect within the dialect of Baihe county. On the basis of comparatively detailed and scientific investigation, this thesis use the method of describe linguistics to describe the phonological system of Baihe Chengguan dialect, with the overall narration to focus on.Then we compare the the phonological system of Baihe Chengguan dialect with that in middle ancient times and neighbourhood dialect by the method of comparative linguistics and historical linguistics.The full thesis is divided into six parts altogether:First part have introduced county situation,history,research overview of the dialect etc. of Baihe briefly.The educational circles of the dialect must have difference to the circle of the dialect of Baihe county at present, there are three kinds of views of Zhongyuan Mandarin, eastern Mandarin and southwest Mandarin mainly.Second part have described such phenomena of the phonological system and tone sandhi,neutral and rhtacizion of Baihe Chengguan dialect,etc. emphatically. The phonological system of the the Baihe Chengguan dialect includes: 24 initials (include zero initial), 46 finals(not include the rhotacized vowels), 4 tones, it produces 4 kinds of new tone from tone sandhi and has 10 rhotacized vowels.The third part is the syllabary of homophones of Baihe Chengguan dialect.
