Giorgio Morandi(1890—1964) was born in Bologna .When he was young, he learned Fine Arts in the Bologna Art Institute, where Giotto's painting handed down from early Renaissance gave him a striking impression. At the beginning of his art career, Cezanne's art exerted its strong effect on him. From 1917 to1920 Morandi met Chirico, a leading figure of metaphysical school. From then on he probed into the essence of metaphysical painting. His painting at that time conveyed mysterious sense of sur-realism, and revealed his talent in balancing and handling the delicate shades of color. From 1920 to 1964, Morandi went back to his own art world completely. In a simple and plain studio, facing still life of his own, he painted it repeatedly. His image on the canvas was sometimes strong and visible, plain and indistinct otherwise. He insisted on doing it quietly, penetrating into the essence of life. He had never imitated the texture of his still life thoughtfully but by removing the luster of his bottles and pitchers, and simplifying the still life to the abstract form approximately. At the same time he controlled the shade of his painting carefully. The gray color that he used was full of sincere and honest always contained his unconventional and tranquil personality. He synthesized all kinds of facts by perceiving figure and space when he was working. So the space in his painting became a kind of feeling, and his bottles and pitchers were not in a real space of human reality, but in the space of his spiritual reality. From waiting and listening something came into his heart quietly. Whenever we get to see Morandi`s painting that seem to be repeated by himself, we always feel his art is quiet and relaxed, and always gives people a kind of wonderful thinking, in which nothing can never be explained clearly. In this moment we heard the gentle voice from his heart being quite and moderate, We all were intoxicated with appreciation. This article described his experience in his hard time. After expressing his viewpoint clearly, he kept quiet and moderate. The process of his plain living revealed us a kind of paradox. In the inner part of his heart, he was deeply and lonely submerged, otherwise, he would like to meet a kind of spiritual image in the paradise delightfully. At that time, his feeling went back to a state of maturity and subsidy, and the image in his painting was under the control of a kind of balance of his own. Morandi`s world was born. In this harmonious world, his spirit was full of solemn and quiet, from which the mild singing flowed under the river of silence. We find that all his painting echoed back the sound of hope, which goes from weakness to strength. His art is so quiet and detached which entirely free from worry, and pleas to the eyes of all viewer. His art works brought observers a sense of admiration and fear. Let us feel it again. What a great aesthetic value is created by implication form, not merely a form of sensation, but between perception and reason, a special kind of spiritual character full of expressive value. Only nonchalant will can remove all common stroke.
