Debussy was the geneses person of the impressionism, the style that he represented becomes the link of the tradition and future. What he pursued the originality constantly, in melody, harmonic progression and texture on the body all to have the new music language, was the bridge for the development of atonality music. Especially his program music has opened another new field and the space for the westem music. Without doubt Debussy held the pivotal status in the western music history. Through studying and understanding Debussy piano work, as well as summarizing of the correlated literature, the thesis analyzes mainly the water, the light and the fire,these three concrete music image, in the Debussy piano music, and carries on the comparison with other composers' corresponding works, further understood Debussy's image world.This thesis unifies the form, harmony, the analysis of music work and western piano art history, carries on the further understanding and the analysis to Debussy's piano music.This thesis mainly consists of three parts: The first part introduces Debussy's biography and the time background, as well as the relation of he,impressionism and symbolism. The second part introduces the individual feature of Debussy's music,and his piano composition. The three part analyze the water, the light, the fire three concrete images in melody, tonality , texture and the skill of play comparatively, and understands Debussy's piano language deeply.
