Most Literature research fellows thought the Literature of the Sui Dynasty is the transition period of the exchanges of the South and North Literature of the Mid-Ancient times and developed into the Literature of the Tang Dynasty. But there haven't been sound and profound explanations about the exchanges and transition. This article is trying to explain the changes and characteristics of the Literature of the Sui Dynasty.The Literature of the Sui Dynasty can be divided into five stages according to the history times. 4 years Before the Primary emperor of Sui, it was the beginning of the Literature. The Shan Dong Aristocrat, Guan Long Aristocrat and the Literates of the Nan Dynasty were three powers of the Literature. They had their own personalities so the characteristics of this period can be described as "disordered".4 years after the Primary emperor of Sui, the Emperor had adopted prohibition to shorten and simplified the literary style. So the characteristic was changed for the first time.8 years after Sui had turned down the Chen, the Literature of the South and North had exchanged for the first time. At the same time, the Buddhism had affected the Literature a lot.After Yang Guang became the Emperor, Sui had been in a period of great prosperity. At this time, the Bound Poem had come into being, and there were lots of poetesses. Besides, due to the imperial examination system, the Literature had been so brilliant ever.At B.C.661, after the battle to the Liao, the Sui Dynasty had been waned. The short but splendid Literature of the Sui Dynasty had been over in grieved.The changes of the Literature of the Sui Dynasty had characteristics as followed:1. "Disordered": This style can be the life's situation in which life indulged in passions and ran wild, then it became ordered. The characteristic of "disordered" is that it had different origins and it diverted. The Phonology and Sound had strongly supported the development of the rhymelization of the poetry, though the literates hadn't realized it.2. The Literature of the Sui Dynasty had close relationship with the Buddhism: the Literature of the Sui Dynasty had used the Buddhism to express themes and made it a tool for narration and express.3. Plain and Positive style of the Literature of the Sui Dynasty: There was a successful and effective reform of the literature in Sui Dynasty and the Bound Poetry with its vehement and magnificent style, and due to the imperial examination system, there had been lots of literates. Thus the Literature of the Sui Dynasty was plain and positive.4.
