Kang Youwei is ranked as a famous politician, ideologist, educationist and scholar on the modern history of China. He is also the organizer and leader of WuXu Reform. He grew up in the ages when China was suffering from imperialism aggression and cultural exchanges being very frequent. Having been keenly aware of the world situation and the profound changes occurring in the relationships between China and other countries, Kang Youwei was very concerned about diplomatic affairs from 1880s, when he set foot on politics, to his later years. As a result, He established rich theories on diplomacy. But in the past, scholars and experts seldom did research on the diplomatic ideas of Kang Youwei. Therefore, it is very significant to focus on Kang Youwei's diplomatic ideas. This essay consists of five chapters, which intend to reveal the connotation of Kang Youwei's diplomatic theories, exploring its significance and influence for reference in case.The First Chapter analyzes the basis on which Kang Youwei produced his diplomatic theories, which mainly discusses his world view and his concept of modern nation.The Second Chapter delves into his viewpoints of enhancing the Sino-foreign communication, examining clearly the situation of the nation and promoting the diplomacy of China.
