A Multiangled Study On Linking Degree Adverb With Negation Adverb

There is much research about Adverb-linking which is a universal phenomenon, but the special articles on linking degree adverbs with negation adverbs are limited. Therefore, based on the grammar theories of three levers, with the combination of form and meaning, and of descriptiveness and explanations, this thesis explores linking degree adverbs with negation adverbs, trying to give a sufficient observation, description and explanation.The thesis is subdivided into six parts:Introduction It introduces the current research on linking degree adverbs with negation adverbs, states the article's value and innovation, explains the subject and gives the conception of two kinds of structure forms, which are "degree adverb + negation adverb+ headword" and "negation adverb+ degree adverb + headword".Chapter 1 A syntactic analyses on the two structure forms. First, we discuss the degree adverbs, negation adverbs and headwords which can or can't come into the structure forms. Second, we analyses the frame of two structure forms. Last, we study the s structure forms' syntactic function.Chapter 2 A semantic analyses on the two structure forms. In this part, we mainly study two structure forms' syntax meaning and the semantic restriction of headwords when the headwords come into the two structure forms.Chapter 3 A pragmatic analyses on the two structure forms. First, we study two structure forms' restriction of type of writing .Second, we analyze their pragmatic function. Last, we study their pragmatic value.Chapter 4 A analysis on symmetry and asymmetry of two structure forms. In this chapter, firstly, we explain why different headwords lead to symmetry and asymmetry of two structures with Markedness Theory. Secondly, we explain the asymmetry of amount of :wo structure forms. Thirdly, we study an exceptional word "太" and we explain why it is different from others from the angle of "太" 'meaning .
