The Study Of Complex Sentences Connected By "Jieguo"

"Jieguo (结果) " is a noun in most situations in modern Chinese, it can be a joint in complex sentences too. The complex sentences connected by "jieguo (结果) "are studied in this thesis which covers the investigation of part of speech of "jieguo (结果) ", the semantics relationship of clauses and pragmatic value in these sentences. The part of speech of "jieguo (结果) " should be treated as a conjunction by analysis in this thesis, according to the Xing-fuyi's classify theory of complex sentences, the semantics of clauses connected by "jieguo(结果)" in these complex sentences can be classified as causality, transition and parataxis. Emphasizing the result, the strong subjective emotions and the consequence relationship of actions are the main pragmatic value of these sentences.This thesis consists of three parts:First, the former researches of these complex sentences are summarized in this thesis.
