The Analysis Of All Is Settled And The Others

As the winner of the 5th Mao Dun Prize, Tibetan writer Alai's novel, All is settled has been widely acclaimed and reviewed as a great work in recent years. Someone reads from it a savage and bloody story, deeply fascinated by the process of the rise and down of an isolated kingdom, while some people try to seek some subtle metaphors and meanings which have close connection with society, history and politics as they always do. There are still some attempts to find the writer's secret emotion and the attitude to life from this novel. Those are so confusing and disturbing that sometimes the useful study on this novel can't be carried out deeply .Nevertheless, All is settled is worth attention, which reveals some important hints to us. Considering the political elements imposed on the Mao Dun Prize and the appeal to reader, the writer make every endeavor to keep the balance between the utilitarianism and the purity of literature, and at the same time, he makes a few remedial measure to release the miserable contradiction in the process of writing .Unfortunately, there are still many artificial marks in this novel, which has produced bad impact on the novel's success.Nowadays, all of us including writers and critics are confronted with this sharp question: how should we write? It seems that the critic should play a role just like a leader or prophet, or witchdoctor.All is Settled is full of modern writing skills. The special angle of narration, thestream of consciousness and the smart language make it unique, but complicated and confusing. Its success just lies in the text itself. So, this paper mainly deals with these three aspects, and intents to find the deficiencies in the text, even fraudulence, through analyzing its composition. What is most important, this paper tries to explore the crisis of creative writing, which is extremely meaningful for a nation or a writer to keep independence and characteristic under the circumstance of cultural globalization.Indeed, it is what I aim at in this paper.
