D.H.Lawrence was one of the most disputed writers of the western literature in the 20th century. His life was full of glory and mock. Fame and rude were behind hisdeath. The British poet Browning says"......Nor soul helps flesh more , nor thanflesh helps soul "The harmonious relation between soul and flesh was the ideal of Lawrence . For a long time, mankind had been lack of blood sense because of the depression from the soul. Living in the empty spiritual world , The flower of Libido was withering to death. When God was dead, Mankind would return to their homeland. Hearing the sound from ancient Eden and inner flesh.This thesis tries to find the key of understanding Lawrence's ideal of soul and flesh through the social and cultural background.Calling for the human instinct , Lawrence was against the alienation which sprang from the human civilization. He attacked Christian morality and rational tradition. Opposing modern industry which swallowed human homeland . Having an insight into the soul of mankind, he attempted to understand the human being himself.
