English Curriculum Standard implements task-based teaching model, which helps students to reach the language goals through completing the tasks given by teachers. Since the final goal of learning a language is to achieve communicative competence. In this essay, I will try to analyse how to design the tasks to improve students' communicative competence. On one hand, it is possible for teachers to develop students' communicative competence more efficiently when they design the tasks based on students' present cognitive levels. On the other hand, only when teachers design tasks which relate to interlanguage pragmatics, can students' communicative competence be really developed. Task-based Language Teaching Model is one of the effective ways to improve students' language communicative competence these days. The idea of Task-based Language Teaching breaks the traditional teaching models, which separate teaching grammar from use of language and language forms from language meaning. And Task-based Teaching reflects the educational idea of "learner- centered and development of human nature". The designed tasks by teachers must be fit for students, so they can make the students' learning activities meaningful and purposive.
