China is a unique country inside the four greatest civilizations in the world with a culture system,which developed continually over a long time and never broke off .Experencing many vicissitudes and hardships,the Chinese nation resides a structure that each race live in compact community and integrate with diverse origin like rolling snow ball.characteristic of Chinese traditiondal patriarch linked closely to the kind of great vitality and assimilation force of Chinese culture.It is the exact key to untie the riddle and seek the trait of Chinese historical culture with important academic value and current significance.Patriarchal culture is a small fedual group one that have a criterion to associate with others by close or distant blood relationship or not ,which emphasize the high and low grade , value boys but despise girls ,act arbitrarily ,has strong cohesion ,identification and exclusionism,reject easily the national law.Patriarchal culture as the core of Chinese traditional one still influence strongly society nowadays.It is a key step to resolve the "three agricultures"problem and realize completely a well-to-do society that realize village people's automony so as to push forward strongly Chinese democratic and legal system .Research on patriarchal culture and its modernization has important realistic meaning and acamedic value ,thus many subjects focus and reseach on it including politics,law ,history and anthropology nowadays. My tutor Mr.Qian Zongfan is an expert in patriarchal system of Zhou Dynasty and each race of Guangxi province.As for its important historical condition associating certainly with some social phenomenon but no a systematic study,therefore I reseach and probe carefully as my academic degree thesis and hope to proceed more reseach and resolve conveniently some hot,difficult problems under his meticulous guide. Under the guide of Marxist theory and the important thought of"three representatives",according to the basic standpoint on patriarch of Marx,Engels and Mao zedong,besides historical method ,still adopting variance theory of anthropology under global visual field ,analyze historical materials at this time ,consult some foreign result concerning related problem to announce its basic feature ,various law ,study its positive and negative aspects ,put forward a cardinal way to make it modernize through politics,economy and patriarchal culture interacting. The thesis is constituted by three parts——preface,thesis corpus and end. The preface introduce patriarchal system and culture ,cultural vaiation concept ,present reseach condition,realistic meaning. The first part discuss emphatically cultural common appearance,the high combination of the blood and land relationship is essential for clan to live together to exist and act .Southern clan live together in large scale ,but Northern not.Clannish property is a economic foudation for clan to exist and act mainly including land.Southern clannish land is bigger than Northern in scale.Ancestral temple is symbol of clan and its power ,genealogy is its file,clannish regulation is its law,those are main terms to constitute clan. The third part discuss eight basic characteristics of patriarchal culture of Han nationality in the early stage 20th century.At this time,political power controlled social politics,clannish power controlled social basic unit,religious authority controlled social ideology,the right of man controlled family,the four power interweaved which restrict and fetter farmers.The clannish power supported by political power controlled closely clansmen.Clannish chief decided all matters whether important or trivial.Clan and parents decided marriages of young people who are denpendent,fully responsible for business marriage was very widespread and result in a lot of women to suffer double heavy oppression and maltreatment.Clannish power confined heavily thought besides heavy body tie mainly express everyday through its etiquette.Daughter had no inhevitance because blood relationship inheritance caused to value boys and despite girls so as to bear more boy .Under clannish rule,every kind of superstition activity existed universally around begging a boy for the sake of clannish properity.Clannish fedual relation existed generally in the guilds and secret society.Southern and northern patriarchal culture showed different special feature because of various factors.
