Post-modernism has become a contemporary worldwide culture thought since its birth, which is characterized as reversing and disconstructing modernism. Pose-modernism art has exerted great effects on contemporary life, and it is thus one of the focuses of contemporary cultural studies. The thesis attempts to analyze the artistic phenomena produced by post-modernism, in order to explore the spirits of post-modern artistic—"non-art"and "abnormality", and their artistic views: Art exists in life, where art can be "by any means"demonstrated. As a cultural revolution, post-modernism poses to be radical in terms of anti-culture and causes past things to be felt weary. Accordingly, "anti-art", as a view of post-modern art, opposes the traditional concept that art is the spiritual product independent of life. Hence, the views on art involved in post-modernism appear much revolutionary. This thesis probes into the social and cultural background when post-modern art was originated, its characteristics and evolutive structure. Furthermore, on the basis of illustrating and examing the activities and viewpoints of some typical post-modern artists, this thesis analyzes the artistic views of post-modern art, its artistic phenomenon and exterior forms. Finally, this thesis points out the necessity of understanding post-modernism and stresses on the significance of it terms of distinctly interpreting "art".
