| The study of the Chinese endings has long been a focus in the field of Chinese morphology. Although Chinese is a kind of language that lacks morphological variation, it is still necessary to analyze the word structure and usage of the Chinese language, because it changes with the development of society and is influenced by English in many aspects.This thesis, focused on the Chinese ending "Xing" (性), conducts a detailed investigation of the relation and differences between the Chinese ending "Xing" and its English counterparts. It is composed of eight chapters. The ending "Xing" and its English equivalents are discussed from different angles of linguistics, including morphology, semantics and syntax as well as pragmatic effection of Chinese ending "Xing". In a word, it presents a contrast between the Chinese ending "Xing" and its English equivalents.In order to demonstrate and prove my opinion, I have collected examples from various kinds of authoritative magazines. The analysis will help people understand the mutual translating and translations more accurately and clearly.From the analysis and discussion, we can achieve the following points. First, the appearance of the Chinese ending "Xing" has its special motivations and its origin is unitary while its corresponding English suffixes are multiplex. Second, the Chinese ending "Xing" and its English counterparts are different in morphology. When the suffix or ending is added, the English word or root will become a noun, but the Chinese word might become a noun or an adverb. Thirdly, the change is greater in semantics in Chinese than in English. The suffix or ending will make the structure more flexible in both languages. Moreover, the Chinese ending "Xing" has its own unique characters. As a result, the various possibilities in translating lead to different translations.
