" Keeping stable in Xikang is the precondition of the stability of Xizang ", it has been an essential experience governors should considered when they manage the southwest border area. From Zhao Erfeng "Instead the tribal chief of the official" by the end of the Qing Dynasty, to Liu Wenhui taken over Xikang on the mid-latter part of the Republic of China, there is half a century that Xikang exists as an independent province. A series of measures have been taken to develop the local agriculture during that time, and promoted the modernization of the traditional primitive farming economy extremely, which is considered to be the most great development that ever engaged in this area. Footing on reclamation, crop planting and sideline production, the article exhibits an overall realized landscape on the development of agriculture of Xikang in the early 20th century. A discuss is about the relationship between the development and the environment, and at last a brief analysis on agricultural development are also contained .This thesis consists of two parts: preface and main body.In the preface, the author explains why to choose this topic theoretically and realistically.In the main body, three topics are expounded.In the first section, firstly the author gives an account of the history of Xikang and introduces the agricultural development of Xikang in the early 20th century.
