| In recent years, a large number of online Mysterious Unreal Novels are emerging out constantly, which have become a rather striking literature phenomenon. Before its' appearance, the online fantasy novels (mainly computer game novels) were not very popular. But now, they become fashionable in Chinese online literature. At first the present thesis surveys the history of online Fantasy Novel, which is followed by a brief discussion of the development, classification and meanings of online Mysterious Unreal Novel. Secondly, this thesis explores the roots for the Computer Game Fantasy Novel. Thirdly, this thesis investigates the problems of misunderstanding and alteration of foreign cultures in the process of imitating the western modern magic novels for the creating of online Mysterious Unreal Novels. Fourthly, this thesis discusses the influences of Chinese swordsmen culture and tradition on the theme of underworld. Then this thesis inquires the theme of gods and spirits and its relationship with western and Chinese forebears. At last, a prospect of the Chinese online Mysterious Unreal Novels as well as the significance of the study will be discussed.
