On The Interaction Between Translation And Culture From The Perspective Of Pseudotranslation

Pseudotranslation, a kind of creation disguised by the veil of translation, lying at a gray zone between translation study and creative writing study, is usually ignored and forgotten by scholars and researchers, while, at the same time, this phenomenon widely exists, which often shows its appearance in the history, and it's true that the pseudotranslation plays an important cultural role the same as genuine translation before its veil is removed. With the translation study method moving from prescriptive to descriptive, the domain of translation studies was greatly enlarged, and pseudotranslation also formally came upon the stage of translation study.Inspired by Andre Lefevere's culture study, this thesis attempts to discuss pseudotranslation on the basis of analyzing cultural environment, aiming to reflect the interaction between translation and culture by this name-borrowing translation.If translation is a "fruit" of cultural communication, then pseudotranslation is a "special fruit" of cultural communication. Particular historical and cultural context are the cultural origin of the appearance of pseudotranslation. When social culture is facing the clash between new ideologies and old ones, interior innovation of poetics, and power intervention of patronship, pseudotranslations would appear secretly.
