Culture is the soul of a society. Cultural philosophy has been a hot spot of academic circles. The category culture can realize the combination of science and revolution, reason and worth. The key and solution to the contradiction between productive force and production relations will change in different times and societies unceasingly.Culture is produced from production and requirement. It becomes more and more complicated and organic with them. As a component of superstructure ,its function to solve social basic contradiction become more and more projecting with the development of society. During the course of constrcting the society of comparatively good living standard and harmoniousness scientifical development the position and function of advanced culture become more and more important. The comparative study on the two Marxist leaders and theorists Mao Zedong and Gramsci's cultural philosophy must be helpful to recognize the law of cultural phenomena profoundly and comprehensively. The advanced character of Marxist philosophy's affective pattern in social system is that it is a kind of theory which can break through academic field consciously.It can be understood and used by people to combine with other fields of a society and change the world by this means. Its marrow is seek truth from facts. It's a kind of nonsystematic organic holographic and dynamic philosophy. Every part of it contains all cardinal features of it.It is reflection of laws of nature, society and thought but not end it.Its intention bocomes richer and richer, its extensions expanding ,shrinking ,changing and absorbing the new and superseding the old.The pattern of Mao Zedong's cultural philosophy is a pattern of game with worrying mentality which gives prominence to the competition among social classes. The pattern of Gramsci's culture philosophy is a pattern of game which is marked by qualitative and quantitative change. There are many appoints similar or different between their cultural philosophy on the definition and function of culture,the relation between culture and practice, cultural hegemony and strategies, the relations amongculture politics and economy,and policy to the intelligentsia.We must maintain the hegemony of the advanced culture in cultural field and construct culture according to objective law, study the relations among cultural field and other fields, stress culture's fundation to ideology.We must strengthen the appeal of advanced culture avoiding formalism. We should make up a pattern combining basic and subordinate culture to deal with the relationship between the essentials and the nonessentials, elite culture and popular culture, openning to the world and resisting cultural aggression.The construction of advanced culture needs seeking truth from facts and trying to change reality in practice.
