Qie Yun is a Book of Yun written by Lu fayan during the Sui Dynasty, which is of great significance in the historical development of Yun as a product that absorbs and develops former achievements. In the three versions of Wang Renxu' s Amendments to Qie Yun existent now, entries of Yun are accompanied by notes, which are the famous Wang' s note to entries of Yun. In spite of their small number and simple explanations, these notes are an indispensable material and approach to help us understand the Books of Yun during the periods of Wei, Jin and the south and north Dynasties. In the prelude to Qie Yun, Lu says that conreferences can be seen in Lv Jing' s Yun Ji, Xia Houyong' s Yun lue, Yang Xiuzhi' s Yun lue, Li Jijie' s Yin Pu and Du Taiqing' s Yun lue, which justifies that Lu, referred to the previous books of Yun and made a comparisons among them writing Qie Yun. In fact also shows that the Five books of Yun, as the representative of this field had a quiet influence. In order to understand much of the Five books of Yun, Yun' s features and rules, and their influence on Qie Yun in terms of the writing principles and combination or division of Yun, it is worth the thorough research on the notes to each Yun entry.This paper attempts to make a detailed and systematic analysis of these notes under the guidance of the historical and comparative arguments. Firstly, it tries to infer the division of Yun adopted by the Five books of Yun. Secondly, it works out to provict by referring to a variety of sources of Yun and sets of selected readings of ancient books. Thirdly, it deals with it with She as an unit, and then the four tones respectively.
