What the Imagology of Comparative Literature focuses on is the alien image in literature, that is the image of foreign people, besides that, foreign scenes, customs, concepts and Chinese image in oversea Chinese writing are also included. The alien images in LaoShe's Erma are analyzed totally in this paper, especially the stereotypes of the British and the Chinese. This paper consists of the four parts: Introduction, Part I, Part II and Conclusion. Introduction: After a brief review on the update achievement in LaoShe Study, the object and the point of view approaching to the object are presented in this part. Part I: With a remarkable contrast between the image of the British and that of the Chinese in three respects: economic concept, social morality and life style, the authoress reveals LaoShe's cultural position, and through the exterior differences explores the interior differences in the cultural concept, the ethical order and the national character between the two nations. Part II: This part puts its emphasis on the image of four British women, who are the other in a double meaning, that is, the other in the eyes of Chinese as well as the other in the mind of men. Their living space is thus confined within the family and marriage, which reveals the patriarchal ideology in Chinese traditional society. Conclusion: This part indicates that the Imagology of Comparative Literature pays attention to subject's culture and cultural dialogue.
