After reading his works carefully, we can find that intertextuality and Borges are two keywords bringing out the best in each other, that is to say, they can be explained and engendered by each other, and it is the purpose of this paper to seek a kind of understanding between these two words.As a kind of theory study, intertextuality made a start on the linguistics turning of contemporary literature theory. It's concerns is the relation between texts, and it thinks that the literature works not only stem from the external world, but also from their own history. Borges' works reflect the style obviously and there are also many profound expoundations about intertextuality in his literature theory, which is worth our paying close attention to. Meanwhile, comprehending Borges1 works from the angle of intertextuality is also a beneficial way of thinking, which will make us understand this writer who has produced great influence in the history of 20th-century literature better.There are four chapters in this paper. Chapter 1 is the animadvertive review of intertextuality. The review goes on mainly from two angles of "text and author" and "text and reader", weaved in the analysis of Borges' literature ideas. The title of Chapter 2 is "Borges and books". This chapter reviews not only the intimate relationship between Borges and books but also the sound meaning of this relationship, which is to prove that in the ensuing chapters analyzing Borges from intertextuality is feasible and rational. Chapter 3, comparing with the theory of intertextuality, combs and analyzes the unique literary idea of Borges. Thus, this chapter and chapter 1 can be mutually interpreted in logic. Chapter 4 is the analysis of Borges' text.
