This thesis is a study of to-infinitive clause functioning as complement in post-predicate position controlled by verbs in passive voice. It is mainly studied in the register of English for Science and Technology represented by corpus JDEST. The results in JDEST are compared respectively with those of the four registers in Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English and those in BROWN. The results showing the distribution and verb frequency in Pattern 2P (to-clause with passive main verb) in JDEST have their own features.Through observing the data provided by JDEST, some analyses and explanations are given for this grammatical item in this thesis. Hopefully, this research can make some contribution to the teaching and learning of this infinitive pattern.
