The Ethical Thought About Nanotechnology

On the basis of nanotechnology's latest research production, this paper makes a comprehensive and systemic analysis to the ethical issues, which can be brought about by nanotechnology's application. Consequently, I put forward the ethical restriction solution to nanotechnology. At first I make an analysis to the life ethical issues, which can be brought about by nanotechnology's application. These issues concerns: When we don't have enough knowledge of nanomaterial's character and toxicity, abusing nanotechnology will imperil people's health;We also can use nanotechnology to reproduce people, but this will infringe people's dignity and challenge the traditional morality. It is also hard for us to define the relationship between the copied one and the original one;Nanotechnology may give us the ability to alter even to design our offspring's gene. But if we impart this choice to individuals, it will contradict community's benefit.Nanotechnology's application may lead to some corresponding environmental ethical issues. These issues concerns: In order to get profit, some organizations may practise nanotechnology's industrialization without enough environment and security evaluation. This will lead to environmental pollution and endanger other's benefit and health;All these behaviors will induce inequality between generations;Abusing nanotechnology may destroy zoology system on the microcosmic level, and this kind of damage may be irreversible, so it will breach environmental ethics' principle of equity between generations.Nanotechnology's application may lead to some corresponding military affairs ethical issues. These issues concerns: the potential of nanotechnology's military application will enkindle a new round of arms race, and the great military consumption will induce resource crisis;Held by terrorism organization, nanotechnology's great execution is certain to imperil society secure;When the developed capitalistic countries headed by America command nanotechnology, the new hegemony will occur and the inequality in countries will become more and more severe.Besides these issues, nanotechnology's application also can bring some other ethical issues. If we use nanotechnology improperly, it will imperil information's secure;If we use nanotechnology without any restriction to improve equipment's capability, it will weaken athletes' main body status and create an unfair competition.;Abusing nanotechnology will also lead to a new form of technology dissimilation.From what have been discussed, I.put forward the ethics restriction solution to these ethical issues, which brought by nanotechnology. We should lead nanotechnology's development with humanism, guide nanotechnology's application with ethics strategy and supervise nanotechnology's industrialization with lawmaking and industry standard.
