There has been a recent rise of interest in the learning of culture in language learning. Culture has become an increasingly important component of English language teaching in recent times. Foreign language teaching comprises several components, including the teaching of grammar, communication and language skills, as well as a change in attitudes towards one's own or another culture. Culture is, however, as generally acknowledged, an inseparable part of language teaching. Cultural knowledge, i.e., the knowledge of the conventions, customs, beliefs, and systems of meaning of another country, is indisputably an integral part of foreign language learning. Many teachers have seen it as their goal to incorporate the teaching of culture into the foreign language curriculum. In this paper, through the analysis of the relationship between culture and language, as well as the relationship between culture studies and foreign language teaching, the writer wants to make it clear that language learning is not only the learning of language knowledge, the learning of the target culture is of the same importance.This paper includes six chapters. Chapter one is a brief introduction of the recent tendency of culture in language teaching and learning. Chapter two is about how to understand culture, including the definition of culture, the categorization of culture, the function of culture, the dynamics of culture. Chapter three mainly expounds the relationship between language and culture, from which perspective to explain the significance of cultural elements in foreign language teaching.
