Chinese-Style Simple Design

Considering the historical and cultural sources, the traditional culture and the modern culture in indoor design are not independent and contradictory, however, are combined in a course with successire development and mutual motivating. In this course, the traditional culture has effects on the modern culture, and modern culture the other way around, so that these two are mixed and combined and perfect Chinese modern indoor design.The essay intends to explore the sperial charm of Chinese culture by analysing the symbolic, formulaic, orderly and symple qualities which commonly exist in Chinese traditional culture. Basing on semiotics, it works out the new conception in indoor design by combining Chinese tradition and western simple style and develops a simple and bright style which focuses on function, environmental protection, less-pollution and factuality. In this style, forms and function are combined perfectly with a true "Chinese" taste. It does not only pursue the apparent effection but also the close resemblance in images. It is a mixture of the deeply cultural sources and national charm. In the authors teaching practice, students are led to systematically study the cultural elements in domestic and abroad indoor design, so that they can work out more modernred, nationalized and simple-style indoor design basing on the excellent cultural tradition and a correct aesthetic sense.
