The present study examined the relationship between coping style and social support by asking 422 college students to fill out questionnaires. The results indicated that: â‘  Male and female students all resorted more to solving problem and seeking help coping styles. Female students reported to using significantly more solving problem style and more seeking help coping styles than male students.â‘¡ Female students are more better than male students on objective support subjective support , the using of social support and the total score of social support. â‘¢The level of all students' social support was positively correlated with solving problem and seeking help coping styles, while was negatively correlated with negative coping such as self-accusation , retreat and rationalization. The using of social support can obviously increase the adoption of solving problem and seeking help coping styles. Objective support can reduce the using of self-accusation, retreat and rationalization coping styles. For male students subjective support can increase the adoption of solving problem coping styles, the using of social support can increase the adoption of seeking help coping styles, objective support can reduce the using of self-accusation, retreat , fantasy and rationalization coping styles;For female students the using of social support can obviously increase the adoption of solving problem and seeking help coping styles, objective support can reduce the using of rationalization coping styles.
