Between Hypocrisy And Reality

Being one of the few writers who have important affects on the history of Chinese contemporary literature, Yuhua's vanguard novels have been attracting considerable attention from the critical circles and receiving quite opposite views. As a thesis specializing in studying Yuhua's novel writings, this paper aims to pointing out what factors in these writings has been decided and contained by rhetoric skills from physical forms to the significant world through studying on the rhetoric art of Yuhua's vanguard writings. Concretely speaking, these studies can be divided into four aspects as following:Firstly, through studying on Yuhua's narrative skills in his novels, this thesis has defined why his writing style as a whole is inclining to be objective and indifferent. Secondly, based on the selectivity of narration, this thesis further pointed out that one of the great differences between vanguard novel and traditional novel is the main body's variation of the novel. Meanwhile, this variation is also regarded as Yuhua's striving direction and innovative characteristic. The third, through the comparison between novel's master copy and narrative copy, this thesis is trying to point out some characteristics of Yuhua's vanguard novels such as the desalination of plot factors, the character function transition and the displacement of the time-space structure of novel. At last, this thesis reveals the significant world of Yuhua's novel from the angle of rhetoric.By observing the four points mentioned above, this thesis comes to a conclusion that Yuhua's vanguard novel is a great challengeable breakthrough and innovation in terms of the acceptance of theory, concept updating and writing creative practice compared with traditional novel. Some of them have even been overthrowing. Though there exactly exists formalism in Yuhua's writings as displayed in the title of this thesis in some aspects, these factors not only include comparative reality but appear somewhat hypocrisy.
