A Shallow Approach Of Yu Qiuyu's Theatricalized Prose

Yu Qiuyu's prose has developed a school of his own in the contemporary Chinese literary world. He makes full use of the elements in drama, which is the most important point to form his characteristic prose style.Having been experienced difficulties, prose requires more fresh strength in the new period. Yu's theatrical prose may be said that it arises at the historic moment. Although the integration between prose and drama is not started by Yu, it is him who has specially studied the theory of drama that brings the theatricalized prose to a certain height. Through his works, we can easily find the reflection of drama. This paper intends to approach the dramatic characteristics of his prose superficially from his Stress Cultural Journeying, Notes Made While Living in the Hills, A Sigh in a Millennium, and Traveler Has No Boundaries.This paper is divided into two chapters which individually analyze the lessons Yu has drawn from the dramatic techniques of expression and the aesthetic thinking. We are expecting to establish a new way of literary creation through the study of his works.
