There were complex sources of a number of misunderstandings and wrong practices in the collectivism. Heated academic debates on the issue of sticking to collectivism have been heard for a long period; the question on how to practice the collectivism in the new historical era remains unanswered. Therefore, it is now necessary to probe further the conception of collectivism and to re-evaluate the moral principle of it. The key to the issue of re-evaluating is to uncover the collectivism connotation as a whole and master its modern characteristics.The thesis consists of two parts: the introduction and the main body. The content of the main body is as follows:1. The correlations between individuals and their interests, the collective and its interests, individuals and the collective, the interests of individuals and that of the collective are explained in this thesis. The context in which collectivism is interpreted is discussed in details as well.2. This thesis gives a comprehensive analysis of the misunderstandings and wrong practices in sticking to moral principles of collectivism and the sources of those misunderstandings and wrong practices.3. The connotations of the moral principles of collectivism are brought to light in this thesis; the characteristics of the moral principles of collectivism are exposed; the significance of re-evaluating collective moral principles is discussed. In addition, some aspects in implementing the principles at the preliminary stage of socialism are drawn special attention in this thesis.
