A Research On The Regional Distribution Of Characters In East-han Dynasty

This thesis, on the basis of exactly calculating the characters appearing in Hou Han Shu and San Gong Jiu Qing, Shou Xiang, Bo Shi and generals according to materials neatened by scholars of the Qing Dynasty and modern times, utilizes researching approaches of multi-subjects and comprehensively researches the factors that influenced the regional distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty and the effects of the regional distribution of characters on the East-han society.Firstly, characters in East-han Dynasty formed a distribution framework which took the Zhong Yuan district as the main body and the districts of Guan Zhong and Qi Lu as two wings. The distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty manifested apparent regional futures, intense congregational futures, and certain relative futures between characters of each kind and the whole East-han characters. The establishment of the absolute talents advantages to the south of Yangtse river generated in the evening of East-han Dynasty.Secondly, the factors influencing the regional distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty can be divided into four aspects including economics, politics, culture and education. Economically, agriculture foundamentally decided on the regional distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty while the functions of industry and commerce were relatively weak. Good geographical positions and convenient traffic, natural disasters and changes of climate could also greatly affect the distribution of characters. Politically, the election system made effects in the largest scale. In addition, people who lived in the native places of emperors, relatives of emperors' wives and the ministers with great power would easily become characters in history. Wars increased opportunities of soldiers to become generals. From the angle of culture, social customs of different places could produce important functions on the regional distribution of characters. The communications and spreading of culture were significant factors affecting the regional distribution of characters.Educationally, the distance from the center of public education and the development extent of private education comprised the important ruler to measure the situation of the regional distribution of characters. The influencing factors narrated above were interactional and founded the framework of the regional distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty.Thirdly, the framework of the regional distribution of characters in East-han Dynasty brought great effects on social relations, social culture and the development of social economy of East-han Dynasty.
