This paper begins with myth of Nu Wa in the classic literatures, then I analyze theingredients of adoring stone in the myth of Nu Wa from the angle of nature worship by usingresearch methods of archaeology,ethnography and folklore .The first chapter of this paper analyzes the myth about Nu Wa, and divides her goddignity into two parts——primitive mother god and human cultural hero. As for the goddignity of primitive mother god, I analyze the relationships between Nu Wa and soil, stonefrom the angle of her myth of "creating human by soil". Then as for her god dignity ofhuman cultural hero, I , by analyzing the myth of mending the sky by stone-melting and theestablishment of marrige institution, further explain the culture of adoring the living stone inthe stone, which is the main ingredient in the myth of Nu Wa. Through exploring theingredient of adoring living stone in the myth of Nu Wa, I hope it can help us to find out howthe primitive godliness of adoring living stone in ancient China flowing into myth and beingpermanent potential conent consisting in myth, so provide us a new angle to understandcultural ingredients hidden in the myth of Nu Wa.The second chapter is based on folk beliefs, and tries to find out the conjunction ofadoring Nu Wa and living stone worship in folk in the folk customs. So make a furtherexplanation the tight connections between Nu Wa and stone.The third chapter mainly argues the effects which the myth of Nu Wa and the ingredientsof adoring the living stone in it have on the afterward literature. I will lay a strong emphasison talking about the stone in Qing Gengfeng and the Story of the Stone, and analyze the mythof Nu Wa and adoring the living stone in it have effects on the Story of Stone from threeaspects, namely the story of life circle, the myth of Nu Wa and the idea of women'spredominant status,"promise before wood and stone" and "love between gold and boulder".
