Christianity (Catholicism) entered China thirdly in Ming—Qing transitional period. Thedisseminator was chiefly Jesuit Missionary . They take messure suiting China Culture inorder to take root and popularize Catholicism in China . Catholicism caused many echoesamong social stratums. The different attitudes lied in the lower persons, gentry and thehighest ruler ----emperors . This text mainly studies emperors' attitudes towardsCatholicism and influences which their attitudes caused . Emperors' attitudes mainlyinclude absorbing western technique Jesuit Missionary carried and forbidding themmissionize in China. The attitude of only absorbing western technique make it possible toexchange culture between China and the West. But skeptical attitude to Catholicism brokeoff cultural exchange between China and the West. The full text is made up of foreword, text and conclusion. The part of foreword introduces briefly basic problems thesis should be solved, theorymeaning ,practical values and the current situation of domestic study on this problem ,etc… The text is divided into four parts. The first part introduces mainly that Catholicismentered late Ming China thirdly, and Jesuit Missionaries take different policy from former;The second part analyses emperors' attitudes towards Catholicism in late Ming China;Thethird part analyses several emperors' attitudes to Catholicism in early Qing dynasty;Thefourth part concerns mainly relation between state and religion;finally ,I depict the greatinfluences of emperors' attitudes to Catholicism in Ming—Qing China. The conclusion part summarize the full text and points out ,the technique JesuitMissionary carried was not the advanced science and technology that time, which was nothelpless modernization of China.
