Research On Social Associations Of Modern Hunan Province

The social association is a non-commercial social organism organized voluntarily by the citizens for their communal purpose, which behaves by the book and is characterised by non-commercialism, self-governing, public, non-government. The social association came into being in Hunan after the war of China-Japan in 1894. It resulted from the tremendous social change in Hunan. Being an impetus to the development of Hunan province, it inserted far-reaching influence on the modernization of the society .Research on the association in Hunan has not been made till now yet. The author, holding the idea to make up for this realm, makes a systematic research by which we might better our learning of the rules of the course of the social development in Hunan.The article is mainly composed of four parts .In the preface, the writer makes a concise description on the reason why choosing this title , previous research achievement , the new ideas of the author, and the shortcoming of the research , etc.The second part interprets the concept and the characters of the social association .After this, the author interprets the conventional social groups in Hunan.Part three mainly interprets the outline of the devopment of the social associations in mordorn Hunan province. They mainly conclude four stages: the Constitutional Reform and Modernization in 1898, the innovation time in the late QingDynasty, the early period of the national democratic state(1912-1927), and the Nanjing national government era(1927-1949). In every period , the causes , a general survey and the charactors of the development are included.The forth part probes into the relationship between the social association and the modernization of Hunan province. This chapter comprises two sub-parts:the further factors that contain the development of the association and the impact the association made on the modernizing of Hunan society.In the end , the author concludes that the official policies have played the main role , the Ma-ri incident is the watershed and the government has not established good relationship with the association in the whole course of the evolution, for which some disadventures have been made.
