The Study On Influences Of Mass Culture On Modern Cultural Psyche Changing

After experienced reforming and opening process, and constructed marketing economicsystem, modern China society changed a lot. The traditional, inactive and closed socialculture system transformed towards the modern, active, opening and multiple orientations.The cultural reality is becoming complicated. The change of modern social backgroundinfluenced the mass cultural psyche deeply. The transform of social culture and the change ofcultural psyche is a new important study in social research fields.Mass culture is the most popular kind of cultural form in the social transforming process.Generally speaking, mass culture is a kind of social cultural model, its fast development isfacilitated by modern technical media, operational principle is commercial orientation,purpose is to make great economic profits, rage covered many fields of daily life andentertainment, like consuming ads, commercial films, popular TV series, popular music, largeentertainment activities, idol adoration, commercial sports and so on. Modern mass-culturehas commercial, consuming, entertainment, popular and postmodern unreasoning features.From the deeply sense, modern mass culture show a kind of life attitude, a kind of thinkingstyle of realizing self and reality, a kind of picture of modern popular cultural psyche.Reviewing on the multiple cultural and life realities, it is easy to find that the modernmass culture influenced the mass life style and consuming thoughts deeply;changed thesocialization process of different people of different age, formed the evident differences inthoughts and behaviors between different generations. The young people's living concept,value concept, life concept, family and marriage concept, career concept and socialresponsibility concept are different from the old people and their parents;enriched thecategories and content of traditional relationship, constructed new type of relationshipmodel---parasocial interaction;influenced the individuals' self-construction, emphasizedself-experiences, resulted in appearing of multiple-self-images and disappearing ofself-retrospection;modern mass-media also constructed the social and behavioral situation,renewed the social behavioral model and behavioral contents. The new behavioral knowledge,new behavioral evaluation and new behavioral rules make the people's traditional behaviorshabits changed;and the commercial, consuming and postmodernism unreasoning featureswhich the modern mass culture have influenced the young adults negatively and deeply.Idol-culture is changing and also a part of the social culture. On certain deep level, idoladoration phenomena uncovered the process of cultural transform and suggested theinfluenced factors on the change of mass cultural-psyche. Therefore, form the psychologicalangle, we investigated the idol adoration phenomena both in contemporary young adults andtheir parents. The results suggest that two generations in different social culture have differentidol culture. The idol type, the causes of idol-adoration, the behavioral style of idol-adorationand the influences of idol-adoration were different between the young people and theirparents. The young people were apt to choose stars as their idols, but their parents likedchoosing the distinguished people as their idols. The adults admired the inner spirits of theiridols, they can choose and accept the idols reasoningly. By comparison, the youngemphasized the idol's physical appearance. It shows clearly that adolescent idol-culture haveclear modern cultural characters, and was developing towards the commercial, multiple,opening and entertainment directions. Compared with adult idol-culture which showed clearpolitic, single, closed and educational features, adolescent idol-cultures have manydifferences. Through studied and analyzed the modern adolescent idol-culture phenomena, itcan see clearly that modern mass culture influenced the psychological healthy developmentdeeply. Because of the popular and the blind features of the modern young people idol-culture,we should further investigate the influences of the modern mass-culture on the value concepts,self evaluations, achievement motivations, individual objectives, socialization-processes,personality and behavioral models of young people.The study of mass culture influencing the change of cultural psyche had importanttheoretical and realistic implications. The study enriched the content of social and culturalpsychology, offered the new angles for other psychological disciplines to explicate thecomplicated psychological phenomena, enlarged the psychological study scale. Meanwhile,the study of modern mass culture and cultural psyche could make people retrospect the socialresponsibilities of modern mass culture, directed the mass cultural psyche developmentcorrectly, worried about adolescent psychological healthy, and constructed a goodsocialization environment for the young people.
