A Comparative Study On The Rhymes Of Pi Rixiu's And Lu Guimeng's Poems And Verses

Pi Rixiu and Lu Guimeng , well-known writers in late Tang Dynasty, are called Pi-Lu by later generations. Their poems and verses share the honor and have played an important place in the history of literature. Today, when making research on them, people usually concentrate on exploring Pi-Lu's friendship, Pi-Lu's Song-ling antiphony poetry and its position of the poet-school of Pi-Lu in the history of poetry of the Tang-song period from the perspective of literature. No one researchs systematically and compare the rhymes in their poems and verses. This paper takes the rhymes in Pi Rixiu's and Lu Guimeng's poems and verses as the subject of our study, trying to sum up the rhyming system of their poems and verses, inspect the rhyming feature in their poems and verses, compare the rhymes in their poems and verses and provide some valuable database for the study of the phonetic system.The whole paper can be divided into five parts.The preface includes a brief introduction to Pi Rixiu's and Lu Guimeng's autobiogrophy, works and their position in the history of literature; a simple account of the research situation on the study of the rhyme in poems and verses, the purpose and the methods of this paper; and a confirmation of the volumes selected and the number of poems and verses selected.Chapter I: Rhymes in Pi Rixiu's poems and verses.By a thorough relation and investigation of Pi Rixiu's poems and verses, 24 rhyming categories in his poems and verses can be classified. Among them, there are 7 categories of Yin Sheng rhyme, 10 categories of Yang Sheng rhyme and 7 categories of Ru Sheng rhyme.There are more phenomena of special interchangeable rhymes in Pi Rixiu's poems and verses. The paper concentrates on analysing the interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories and different tones. We analyse 15 categories interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories and their causes. The phenomenon of the interchangeable rhymes among different tones mainly refers to the interchangeable rhymes of the falling-rising tone. The interchangeable rhymes of the falling-rising tone occupies a considerable proportion in Pi Rixiu's poems and verses, which manifests the existence of the phenomenon of Zhuo Shang Bian Qu in Pi Rixiu's poems and verses.There are some special rhyming characters in Pi Rixiu's poems and verses.
