YuanJie, the famous poet and writer of Tang Dynasty, was the Pioneer of the newcampaign official conservatory. His literature contribution included two aspects ——the literary theory and creation . He stressed that the function of poetry was to reflectthe political reality. In the form of poetry creations , he againsted the poetry wind thatonly considered about the form but neglected the contents. He insisted the form ofpoem should be simple, and advocated the creative of simple classical poetry of fivewords.Du Guji was the Tang Dynasty writer. In prose creation, he respected the articlesin former and later Han dynasties, and loved to write ancient long poetry. He andYuanJie also dissatisfied the perspective that regarded four tones and eight diseases asa law. His love of classical poetry were apparently related with this.For a long time,the study about YuanJie and Du Guji were major focus in theliterature , and the rhymes of their poems and verses were rarely involvedin .Therefore ,we take the rhymes in YuanJie and Du Guji's poetry as the subject ofour study ,trying to inspect their phonetic system and providing materials for outliningthe history of the development of phonetic during Tang Dynasty by thorough relating,induction and microanalysis.This thesis is mainly divided into four parts.Part I:PrologueThis part includes a brief introduction to YuanJie and Du Guji's autobiography,works and literary perspective, a simple account of the value on the study of phoneticsthrough rhymes in poetry, and a confirmation of the volumes selected and the numberof poetry selected.Part II: Rhymes in Yuan Jie's poems and versesBy a thorough relating and investigation of poems and title texts written byYuanJie ,26categrories of rhymes in his poetry can be classified as follows .Yin Shengrhyme includes:GeGe Category,GiaMa Category,YuMu Category,YouHou Category,ZhiWei Category,QiJi Category,HuiHai Category,XiaoHao Category.Yang Shengrhyme includes:DongZhong Category,ZhengDeng Category,YangTang Category,GengQing Category,QinXun Category,TanTan Category,YanXian Category,ZhenHunCategory,HanHuan Category,XianXian Category,Rushing rhyme includes:WuZhuCategory, ZhiDe Category, YaoDuo Category, MoXi Category, JiLi Category,HeHeCategory, ZhiMo Category, HeMo Category ,XieXue Category.The phenomenon of the mutual rhyming among different tones existing in poemsand verses of YuanJie mainly refers to the mutual rhyming of the falling –rising toneand the falling tone, the mutual rhyming of the level tone, the falling –rising tone andthe falling tone. There are very rare examples of the last two kinds.However, themutual rhyming of the falling –rising tone and the falling tone occupies a considerableproportion,which rightly manifests the actual situation of the change of zhuo shangbian qu at Tang Dynasty.Some special rhyming in YuanJie's poems and verses were related to the specialrhyming characters, including:Zhi,Dao,Xia,Shang, Dong,Shi,Shi,Zui,Jin, Zuo, Shen,and so on.Part III: Rhymes in Du GuJi's poems and versesBy a thorough relating and investigation of poems and title texts written by DuGuJi ,24 categrories of rhymes in his poetry can be classified as follows .Yin Shengrhyme includes:GeGe Category,GiaMa Category,YuMu Category,YouHou Category,ZhiWei Category,QiJi Category,HuiHai Category,XiaoHao Category.Yang Shengrhyme includes:DongZhong Category,ZhengDeng Category,YangTang Category,GengQing Category,QinXun Category,TanTan Category,YanXian Category,ZhenHunCategory,HanHuan Category,XianXian Category,Rushing rhyme includes:WuZhuCategory, ZhiDe Category, YaoJue Category, MoXi Category, MoQi Category,HeYueCategory, YeFa Category.The phenomenon of the mutual rhyming among different tones existing in poemsand verses of Du GuJi mainly refers to the mutual rhyming of the falling –rising toneand the falling tone,the mutual rhyming of the level tone, the falling –rising tone andthe falling tone ,and the mutual rhyming of Yin and Ru. However, the mutual rhyming of the falling –rising tone and thefalling tone occupies a considerable proportion,which rightly manifests the actualsituation of the change of Zhuo Shang Bian Qu at Tang Dynasty.The special characters are also existed in Du GuJi's poems and verses,including :Shang ,Yi, Si, Shi,Hu,Zhui,Di,Shi,Zai,Jian,Dao,Xia,Zhong,Zhi,Xia,Jin, andso on.Part IV: ComparisonComparing the rhymes of YuanJie with the rhymes of Du GuJi , sumes up thedifferences and similarities.Part V:ConclusionThrough the above analysis ,a through conclusion is given to the rhyming Fromthe aspects of the division of the Department of rhyme,the Department of charge,Special rhyme attribution in the poetry of YuanJie and Du GuJi .
