The brothers LuJi and LuYun, called ’Double Lu’ by people, were elites in the literary world during the Jin Dynasty. Their works are very rich, but only a small part of them had been preserved. Nowadays, about300poems and essays of Double Lu can be read, in which there are279poetries and verses that can be used for rhyming study. Firstly, we excerpt all rhymes of279writings and divide them into rhyme sections. Secondly, referring to the phonologies of GuangYun and of the common language during the Jin period which had been induced by Zhou Zu-mo, we put rhymes in rhyme categories of these two phonologies. Thirdly, we count the numbers of rhyme sections whose rhymes come from the same rhyme classification and from two or more rhyme categories of the phonology in the Jin Dynasty or Guang-Yun. On this basis,we analysis these numbers to see which rhyme categories of the phonology in the Jin Dynasty or GuangYun merged together or separated from each other, and put rhyme classifications that merged together in a same group. In this way, we reconstruct Double Lu’s phonology which contains30rhyme categories:11yin-sheng rhyme categories,9yang-sheng rhyme categories and ru-sheng rhyme categories. At the same time, we compare Double Lu’s phonology to phonologies of the xian-qin period, the Han and Jin Dynasties and of Guang-Yun to display rhyming characteristics of Double Lu. In addition, we discus some rhymes that Double Lu used, of which pronunciations shifted specially in the history. |
