The objective of the study is to explore the relations of mental healthand life events and personalities, so that can provide scientific basisfor heath education. In order to gain this aim, the methods such aspsychological measurment, interview in group were used.410 students ofthe Secondary Vocational Department of Dongying Vocational College werestudied first using SCL—90,Adolesent Self-rating Life Events CheckList(ASLEC) and EPQ, then an interview in group was producted in orderto analyze some questions deeply;we had a discussion meeting to obtainmore material.Then in order to analyze and compare,100 students of seniormiddle school were surveyed using SCL—90 and ASLEC. The data managementand analysis was done on SPSS11.0 for Windows. The result showed: 1,The general level of the secondary vocational students. The generalsymptomatic index of the secondary technical students had higher scorethan local senior middle school students, and the results showed that SPSSscores were significant. According to the General Symptomatic Index,there were 5.68 percent of students abnormal, while according to singlefactor, the rate rising to 21.48 percent. Boy students' score were lowerthan girl students', and the scores were significant in photic anxiety,anxiety and depression. The factors' scores of junior students werehigher than those of the senior students, but there was no significantdifference between them. The mental health condition of only children werebetter than those who were not only children, and the difference were putin order as following: obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity,photic anxiety, Depression, hostility, paranoid ideation, anxiety,somatization, psychoticism and so on.2,The influential effects of life event on stuents' mental health.The results showed that more than 50 percent of students were influencedby 17 events of 27 life events, which showed many life events influencedstudents largely. The most important problem that influenced thesecondary vocational students'mental health was human relationships,and the pressure from study had great effect too. Punishment andadaptability also had some influence to them. There were 9 life eventsenter the liner equation of hostility, and showed the importance for thepersonality. There were 9 life events enter the liner equation of paranoidideation, and showed the importance for the personality.3,The influential effects of personality traits on students'mental health. There were great differences in the abilities of thestudents with different personalities to resist mental stresses. Thestudents with interval personality had higher scores in the items ofanxiety, depression and paranoid ideation than others;and the studentswith unstable personalities presented more psychological symptoms thanothers when there were disputes between someone and classmates or friends,or they experienced failure exams or even strike of defeat.It is concluded that the mental health of the secondary vocationalstudents is not as that of senior middle school students, and their mentalhealth level is related to the life events with them, even to theirpersonalities. Parents and teachers should understand the students'mental health condition and recognize the influence and influentialmechanism that life events deal with the students' mental health, anddifferent education methods should be given according to students'personalities. Family and school should make a good mental healthenvironment to cause students' mental to develop healthy.
