Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, asone of a traditional export ,Chinese tea is cogent .And Chinese tea also a importantsign of China's national image. On the international market and the domesticmarket ,the sale of Chinese tea come down by a large margin . In order to improve theinternational reputation of the Chinese tea and safeguard China's national right, anumber of enlightened local officer and entrepreneur initiate the improvementmovement of Chinese tea .Of course,they also want to modernize Chinese teaindustry .This is an important component of national movement to save ourselves andthe modernization movement .The movement also occupy a certain historical statusin the history of Chinese tea. In order to reappear the historical view and offerhistorical experience for the Chinese tea industry ,this text trys to descript and analyzethe background , course and the influence of the Chinese tea industry.This article including three parts, the first part mainly describes the backgroundwhich the Chinese tea improvement movement occurs;The second part elaborats theconcrete measure of Chinese tea improvement on the realm of production and thesales domain. At the same time this part also describe the unremitting endeavor ofChinese government and tea merchant between the end of 19th century and thebeginning of the 20th century . The third part appraises the movement of Chinesetea improvement and analyze the factors which make the improvement of Chinese teaindustry fail.
