In the new China's literary world, Wangmeng is undoubtedly one of the mostattractive writers. This is because he is the embodiment of the changeable situations andcultural developments in the contemporary China literary world. His statements andactions refract all kinds of contradictions from view, puzzle and flourishing vitality in histimes, His works almost completely record his ups and downs and social changes after thefoundation of New China.Xinjiang becomes the turning point of Wangmeng's literary life. The sixteen years offrontier lives made him have a new leap in his body and mind meanwhile Wang found anew strong point for his literary creation. After a return to literary world, he wrote a largenumber of western novels with Xinjiang background and theme. This thesis is trying tostart with these novels. By digging historical backgrounds and cultural implications, thethesis also tries to investigate the unique experiences of living with Uigur people at thebottom of society to seek profound influence on Wang's literary creations. The thesisattaches importance to the influence of Uigur culture on his outlook on life and art, modeof thinking as well. The rich and profound land of Xinjiang and intelligent and humorousUigur people here newly endowed wang with new experiences, new pleasure, newknowledge and new simpler and healthier attitudes and concepts, which eventually helpedto bring about his firm, healthy and persevering life orientation. It also helped to evolve histolerant and optimistic outlook on life and art, exerting a tremendous influence on hishumorous writing style.This thesis is composed of five parts for the discussion: the preface introduces thebringing up of the question. The first chapter is about historical background of his westernnovels and how yearning for Xinjiang came into being. That is real motive force of thecreation of his series of western novels. The second chapter is about ideologicalimplications of western novels and Uigur culture, aimed at expounding Wang's accurateunderstanding about the national character and psychology of Uigur people. The thirdchapter makes a concrete account on how Uigur culture influences Wang profoundly, and itis illustrated from three aspects: Wang's firm life orientation, his tolerant and optimisticoutlook on life and art and humorous style. The last part is the conclusion.
