The countryside and the city are always the two poles of creative writing and literature critic. But people have neglected the study of township society and township literature for a long time. Actually, township literature is as important as countryside literature and city literature. There are many classical texts of depicting towns in Chinese contemporary literature, which build lots of characteristic and charismatic township worlds for us, as follows, Shen Congwen's vacant and elegant township world of Xiangxi, Xiao Hong's cold and uncultured northeast township world, Shi Tuo's freewheeling township world of Zhongyuan and so on. The subject of study in this paper is concerned about the above-mentioned township worlds. The paper deeply analyses the characteristics of the three township worlds and their embodiment in the texts. It reflects different authors'attitude concerning about love and hatred about township worlds by exploring the connection between three authors and towns. It also demonstrates Chinese contemporary authors'different cultural choices during the emerging period of modern civilization and their conflict and suffering spirit when they choose.This paper, excluding introduction and conclusion, consists of two parts, about 40,000 words,Firstly, the introduction demonstrates the necessity of studying township literature and explains study subject and study method. Finally, the introduction provides us the question that the paper will discuss.The First Chapter Transition: The Mixed Culture of Township Worlds. What this chapter mostly discusses is about the cultural mode in township worlds which is formed by dominant traditional civilization and auxiliary modern civilization and its embodiment in the texts by reviewing the sediment of traditional culture and the elements of modern civilization in the township worlds.
