The conveyance of style has long been one of the most important factors which influence the quality of the target text. This is because there is no scientific and universally accepted definition of style. From a macroscopic point of view, it includes styles of age, nationality, class, literary schools and so on; from a microscopic point of view, style is an organic unity of the content and the form of the work, that is to say, style is the essential characteristic of every piece of writing and the outcome of the author's personality and his emotions at the moment. Scientifically speaking, style can somewhat be measured by means of stylistic markers. Consequently, style can be imitated and operated to a large extent.Being a kind of"Re-creation", literary translation has far surpassed the boundary of the traditional"faithfulness"or"equivalence". The diversity of social and cultural customs, the lack of linguistic equivalence and the lack of shared knowledge preclude the perfect"appropriateness"of style conveyance, where possibility for a translator's style lies. With the pervasive involvement of translator's creativity and subjectivity, translators'style comes into being. The translators'style and the authors'style, speaking dialectically, are two aspects of the same contradiction. The basic conveyance of the authors'style remains the top priority, for it is the principal aspect. Although translators'style attaches to that of the authors'to a large extent, being an aesthetic aggregation of some kind, it gains the independency to achieve the compatibility with the latter. Their compatibility is theoretically possible. A skillful translator can interweave the two organically and systematically in the final product—translation, but a high linguistic proficiency and sophisticated literary taste are demanded in the process of investigating, reproducing and creating. From the translation theory point of view, the appropriate compatibility of the two styles is one of the indispensable conditions producing the perfect target work. The relationship between the two styles is a brand-new subject abroad and at home. The study holds significant academic value in objectively cognizing style conveyance and establishing a complete and sophisticated translation stylistics system.
