Effect Of The Development Of Agricultural Taxes Paid By Currency On Rural Economy In Jiangnan District During Tang And Song Dynasty

Agricultural taxes paid by currency began to show ability in Mid-Tang Dynasty, although taxes paid by currency as a form of taxes had existed for a long time. In this thesis, I attempt to carry on systematic research to these problems, such as the development of agricultural paid by currency and that it had effect on the rural economy in Jiangnan district. During the process of the study, I have followed our predecessors to study further the rural economy in Jiangnan district during Tang and Song Dynasty from the angle of the development of agricultural taxes paid by currency. In order of the profound of the study, I utilized a lot of historical data, mathematical analyses, the tenets of Marxism political economy and so on.The thesis can be divided into seven parts as follows:I .Introduction.I discussed the reason of selecting the subject, gave a brief account of relative problems, and defined three concepts of agricultural taxes, Jiangnan district and the period during Tang and Song Dynasty.II .The background of the development of agricultural taxes paid by currency during Tang and Song Dynasty.In this part, I discussed population growth, economy development and improvement of relationships between peasants and markets, which were the foundation of the development of agricultural taxes paid by currency.III .The expression of agricultural taxes paid by currency during Tang and Song Dynasty.In this part, I divided the developing process of agricultural taxes paid by currency into two periods. For the first, I discussed the expressions of agricultural taxes paid by currency before Liangshui tax; for the second, I discussed the expressions of agricultural taxes paid by currency after Liangshui tax, which were levying currency taxes directly and the converting of currency taxes.IV .The characteristics of agricultural taxes paid by currency during Tang and Song Dynasty.There were two characteristics: Jiangnan district paid the most agricultural taxes paid by currency; taxes growth happened uninterruptedly in ancient times.
