Natural Concept is the important characteristics of Chinese traditional cultural mode. Wai-lim Yip extensively apply the Nature Concept to his verse composition, Comparative Poetics, ways of observation, aesthetic category and the realm of methodology. Confucianism and Taoism affected his Natural Concept. He considered the Taoism esthetics as the basic theory of the Chinese ancient poetic criticism theories. He made the relation with Taoism esthetics and linguistics. And he also took the Buddhism and the metaphysics as parts of Taoism esthetics. He was put forward to the animadversion of Confucianism "poem means something". In the Comparative Poetics mode, he compared the western and the eastern Nature Concepts, concluded the natural mode about the concrete performance of Chinese traditional poetic criticism theories, and pointed out the shortage of Chinese ancient poetic theories that neglected the readers.In the relevant theses about the studies of Comparative Poetics of Wai-lim Yip, the research neglected the methodology, purely under the concept of academic theories, and did not do the operation of fulfillment to the poetic theory of Wai-lim Yip. This thesis tries to probe the Nature Concept of Wai-lim Yip, launching detailed argument by the way of methodology, and inquiring into description strategy and fulfillment of maneuverability. This thesis will also find out the limit of his theory, break the period theoretical of pure academic theories, expand the new realm of research.
