This thesis is a monographic study of the calligraphy of Feng Fang, the famous calligrapher of Ming Dynasty .Feng Fang(1494--1569),with an alternative name Cun Li and a nicknameNanyuwaishi, is usually called Feng Kaogong .He is from Yin County of Zhe Jiang Province. Feng Fang is highly-skilled at calligraphy and proficient in several characters, enjoying a profound knowledge and great attainments in both academic study and art practice of calligraphy. The thesis is intended to make a comparatively profound probe and research into Feng Fang's calligraphy ideology and art.The thesis consists of three chapters.ChapterD is to expound the origin of Feng Fang's calligraphy; chapterâ–¡ is to probe into Feng Fang's calligraphy ideology and its influence as well; chapterD is to study artistic features of FengFang's calligraphy. From writing techniques,FengFang is an artist of Middle Ming Dynasty, with a clear-cut stand of restoration of ancient ways and following the examples of Wang Xizhi ,Weisand Jin's style. The thesis holds that there are errors and prejudices in previous comments on Feng Fang and his calligraphy art, with an intention to rectify them and in the hope of letting Feng Fang in a more equitable place in calligraphy history.
